The Highland Adult Literacy initiative is managed by a sub-group of the Community Learning and Development Strategy Partnership formed to progress the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Stategic Plan. The aim is to increase the provision of tuition and support for the approximately one in five adults in Highland who, research shows, have problems with everyday literacy or numeracy.
Literacy funding has been allocated to our area by the Scottish Government to address this issue. This allows us to expand the capacity of existing literacy provision as well as look at new ways of improving literacy skills by integrating literacy learning with other activities. We invite applications for funding from any group or organisation with an idea for a project that includes basic literacy or numeracy.
